Amelia Parnell is vice president for research and policy at NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, where she leads many of the Association’s scholarly and advocacy-focused activities. Amelia writes and speaks frequently about topics related to student affairs, college affordability, student learning outcomes, and institutions’ use of data and analytics. Amelia’s policy and practitioner experiences include prior roles in association management, legislative policy analysis, internal audit, and TRIO programs. Her research portfolio includes studies of leadership in higher education, with a focus on college presidents and vice presidents. She is the author of the forthcoming book, You Are a Data Person: Strategies for Using Analytics on Campus and a co-editor of the book, The Analytics Revolution in Higher Education: Big Data, Organizational Learning, and Student Success. Amelia currently serves on the board of directors for EDUCAUSE and is an advisor to several other higher education organizations. She holds a Ph.D. in higher education from Florida State University and masters and bachelor’s degrees in business administration from Florida A & M University.
Jeff Perez was announced as the seventh president & CEO of SCICU on September 26, 2018, and started his leadership duties on October 29. Prior to accepting the SCICU president & CEO position, Jeff served as vice president for University Relations at Winthrop University. He was Winthrop’s principal institutional spokesperson and representative at the local, state, and federal levels. Perez’s higher education leadership in South Carolina also includes a five-year appointment as vice president for external affairs at The Citadel. Before moving to SC in 2008, Perez held higher ed leadership positions in Ohio and New York, including director of public affairs for the Charter Schools Institute of SUNY and director of communications services for SUNY. Other previous leadership positions held by Perez include director of research and government relations representative for the New York State School Boards Association. Perez holds a Ph.D. in American history from the College of William and Mary. He earned a master’s degree from Binghamton University and a Bachelor of Science in foreign service from Georgetown University. In 2013, Perez attended Harvard University’s Institute for Educational Management.

The SCAIR Executive Committee is excited to offer the opportunity to gather again in person for our annual meeting. Attendees should know that we plan to follow best-practices advice from the CDC and MUSC in order to mitigate risk of COVID-19 transmission. We have chosen a location at Trident Technical College that allows ample room to accomplish a socially distanced meeting. We will abide by the policies of Trident Technical College, which currently include the use of a mask while indoors for all people. All attendees are encouraged to get vaccinated before the meeting.
