2024 Thursday Plenary Speaker: Dr. Alexei Matveev

Dr. Alexei G. Matveev joined the SACSCOC staff in January 2012. He currently serves as Director of Training and Research. His career in higher education spans more than 20 years serving in a variety of roles including faculty member, associate director of institutional effectiveness and assessment, and director of Quality Enhancement Plan. Dr. Matveev published in several journals and conducted sessions at numerous professional meetings on topics related to assessment, accreditation, curriculum mapping, and student retention.  Dr. Matveev holds an M.Ed. degree in educational administration/organization development from Kent State University, M.A. in economic sociology from Central European University (Poland | Hungary) / Lancaster University (UK), and Ph.D. in higher education administration from the College of William and Mary.

2024 Friday Keynote Speaker: Mitch Shue

 

Mitch Shue is a professor of practice in the School of Computing at Clemson University, and the executive director of Clemson’s AI Research Institute for Science and Engineering (AIRISE), having left a long career in industry to join the teaching faculty in 2019.

 Prior to Clemson, Professor Shue served as chief technology officer for Morningstar (Nasdaq: MORN), a global and leading provider of independent investment research and data and was responsible for the company’s technology vision and execution strategy. He previously held leadership roles at several companies, helping to grow three startups into publicly traded companies, and three others into successful acquisitions.

 Professor Shue holds degrees from Trinity University in Texas and George Mason University in Virginia.
