Sammara is the Director of the Institutional Planning and Research Office at the University of South Carolina Upstate. She joined Upstate in May 2019. In her current role, her primary responsibilities include the maintenance of Upstate’s critical benchmarks that are selected by stakeholders (e.g., colleges, committees, offices, departments, etc.) to assist the university in measuring progress toward strategic and organizational goals – oversight of the Common Data Set, external surveys (US News & World Report, etc.), federal reporting, state reporting, statistical analyses, dashboard creations, and ad-hoc data requests.
Sammara has spent over twelve years working in higher education in the areas of institutional research, assessment, compliance, and enrollment management. Her career has been driven by the use of data and technology to help end-users make informed data-driven decisions and efficiently use resources to increase student success and improve the overall student experience.
Sammara holds a Master of Science in Research Administration from Central Michigan University.
In her free time, Sammara enjoys reading, running, working out, and hanging with Cooper the dog!
